-
2.00 Credits
Instruction using layout tools and blueprint reading with demonstration and guided practices with oxy-fuel gas cutting and welding and shield metal arc welding (SMAW). (1 Lec., 4 Lab.)
-
2.00 Credits
Instruction using layout tools and blueprint reading with demonstration and guided practices with some of the following welding processes: gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), or any other approved welding process. (1 Lec., 4 Lab.)
-
2.00 Credits
This course provides a more in depth understanding of the SMAW process. Position of welds will be 1G, 2G, 5G, and 6G using various electrodes. Topics covered include electrode selection, equipment setup, and safe shop practices. (1 Lec., 3 Lab.)
-
3.00 Credits
A continuation of the Blueprint for Welders course. Emphasis placed on inspection, cost analysis, and estimating, including instruction in basic drafting skills. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)
-
4.00 Credits
Preparation for students for certification as welding inspectors, including accepted testing requirements and procedures, measurement systems, duties and responsibilities of inspectors, destructive and nondestructive testing, quality assurance/quality control, welding codes and blueprints, procedures, and case studies. An overview of welding tools and equipment, metallurgy, chemistry, and joint design. (3 Lec., 4 Lab.)
-
4.00 Credits
Instruction using layout tools and blueprint reading with demonstration and guided practices with some of the following welding processes: oxy-fuel gas cutting and welding, shield metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, flux-cored arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, or any other approved welding process. This course is cross-listed as WLDG 2213. The student may register for either WLDG 2413 or WLDG 2213, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (2 Lec., 6 Lab.)
-
4.00 Credits
Advanced topics based on accepted welding codes. Training provided with various electrodes in shielded metal arc welding processes with open V-groove joints in all positions. (2 Lec., 6 Lab.)
-
4.00 Credits
Advanced topics in GMAW welding, including welding in various positions and directions. (2 Lec., 6 Lab.)
-
4.00 Credits
Advanced topics in GTAW welding, including welding in various positions and directions. (2 Lec., 6 Lab.)
-
4.00 Credits
A study of metallurgy as it applies to welding, including structure, identification, and testing of metals; temperature changes and their effect on welded metals; properties of metals, and factors affecting weldability of ferrous and nonferrous metals. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)
