Topics include needs assessment, identifying meeting objectives, program development, facility selection, negotiations, contracts, meeting and function space set-up, promotion and publicity, budgeting, evaluation, and legal issues. A discussion of meeting planning notes and responsibilities in an international context. Topics address foreign currency, customs and laws, shipping, international planning resources, marketing, and language interpretation. (3 Lec.)

Topics include designing floor plans, installation and dismantling of exhibits, freights, and drayage abilities, contracting labor, and working with unions. A discussion of management of the specific problems of trade shows and exhibitions, including design, construction, and regulation. Logistics for planning events, including crowd control, special effects, lighting, decorations and audio. Procedures for conduction fairs, festivals, sporting events, and grand openings. (3 Lec.)

Career related activities encountered in the student's area of specialization are offered though a cooperative agreement between college, employer and student. Under supervision of the college and the employer, the student combines classroom learning with work experience. This is the first semester of academic transfer Vietnamese. It is an introductory course intended for students with little or no knowledge of the language. Its aim is to present essential vocabulary and grammar, and to develop the pronunciation, listening, reading, and writing skills necessary for basic communication and comprehension. Customs and cultural insights are also presented. This course is cross-listed as VIET 1411 but is also used in Study Abroad programs. Students are expected to acquire a substantial amount of vocabulary and begin to deal with idiomatic language and more advanced syntax. This course is cross-listed as VIET 1412.
