This course provides an introduction to the basic HVAC and Refrigeration cycle, system components, system operation, application, and design. The student will use gauges to properly test both HVAC and Refrigeration Systems. (1 Lec., 3 Lab.)

Detail drawings with proper dimensioning and tolerances, use of sectioning techniques, common fasteners, pictorial drawings, including bill of materials. (1 Lec., 3 Lab.)

An introduction to computer-aided drafting. Emphasis is placed on setup; creating and modifying geometry; storing and retrieving predefined shapes; placing, rotating, and scaling objects, adding text and dimensions, using layers, coordinate systems, and plot/print to scale. (1 Lec., 3 Lab.)

Mathematical operations necessary to calculate laying lengths of pipe fittings for fabrication. Identification and use of hand tools and power tools. Identification of pipe, pipe fittings, flanges, and fasteners used in the trade. (2 Lec., 3 Lab.)

Skills, procedures, and techniques used in the installation of water supply systems and drain, waste, and vent (DWV) systems in commercial buildings. This course is cross-listed as PFPB 1219.
