-
3.00 Credits
A basic study of HVAC and refrigeration controls; troubleshooting of control components; emphasis on use of wiring diagrams to analyze high and low voltage circuits; a review of Ohm's law as applied to air conditioning controls and circuits. This course is cross-listed as HART 1403. The student may register for either HART 1303 or HART 1403, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (2 Lec., 3 Lab.)
-
3.00 Credits
An introduction to the refrigeration cycle, heat transfer theory, temperature/pressure relationship, refrigerant handling, refrigeration components and safety. This course is cross-listed as HART 1407 and HART 1507. The student may register for either HART 1307, HART 1407, or HART 1507, but may receive credit for only one of the three. (2 Lec., 3 Lab.)
-
3.00 Credits
Certification training for HVAC refrigerant recovery and recycling. Instruction will provide a review of EPA guidelines for refrigerant recovery and recycling during the installation, service, and repair of all HVAC and refrigeration systems. (2 Lec., 2 Lab.)
-
3.00 Credits
Practical general training and experiences in the workplace. The college with the employer develops and documents an individualized plan for the student. The plan relates the workplace training and experiences to the student's general and technical course of study. The guided external experiences may be paid or unpaid. (21 Ext.)
-
3.00 Credits
An introduction to the refrigeration cycle, basic thermodynamics, heat transfer, temperature/pressure relationship, safety, refrigeration containment, and refrigeration components. Lab required. (2 Lec., 3 Lab)
-
3.00 Credits
A basic study of electrical, pressure, and temperature controls including motor starting devices, operating relays, and troubleshooting safety controls and devices. Emphasis on use of wiring diagrams to analyze high and low voltage circuits. A review of Ohm's law as applied to A/C controls and circuits. Lab required. (2 Lec., 3 Lab.)
-
3.00 Credits
Career related activities encountered in the student's area of specialization are offered through a cooperative agreement between the college, employer, and student. Under supervision of the college and the employer, the student combines classroom learning with work experience. Directly related to a technical discipline, specific learning objectives guide the student through the paid work experience. (1 Lec., 20 Ext.)
-
3.00 Credits
Topics address recently identified current events, skills, knowledge, and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to the technology or occupation and relevant to the professional development of the student. This course may be repeated if topics and learning outcomes vary. (1 Lec., 4 Lab.)
-
3.00 Credits
This course will provide hands on experience in the installation and wiring of solar systems. Systems are to include grid tied and battery backup. This course may be repeated if topics and learning outcomes vary. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)
-
4.00 Credits
Principles of electricity as required by HVAC, including proper use of test equipment, electrical circuits, and component theory and operation. This course is cross-listed as HART 1301. The student may register for either HART 1401 or HART 1301, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (3 Lec.,3 Lab.)
