Presents the role of the nurse in society, focusing on the nursing process. Emphasizes basic concepts of care, communication, pharmacology, and infection control. Emphasizes care of clients across the lifespan. Introduces care of clients with alterations in health affecting body system functioning and care of surgical clients. Builds on skills and concepts introduced in NURS 101. Prerequisites: NURS 100 and PSYCH 201.

Provides content related to care of clients with alterations in health affecting body system functioning and mental health. Builds on skills and concepts learned in NURS 101 and NURS 102. Prerequisites: ENGL 101 and NURS 102

An opportunity to spend off-campus lab time in a variety of ancillary sites; MD offices, clinics, home health agencies, specialty acute care areas, assisted living facilities. Concurrent enrollment in NURS 102, 103 or 104 or permission of nursing director.

Presents basic concepts related to managing and directing members of a team, including delegation, communication, and evaluation. Emphasizes decision-making in the leadership role within the scope of practice for the practical nurse. Prerequisites: ENGL 101 and NURS 102.

2.00 Credits
Explores LPN and RN roles and responsibilities. Centralia college Nursing Program philosophy, purpose, conceptual framework, and outcome criteria as presented in the Student-Faculty Handbook are reviewed. An orientation to clinical facilities and classroom, campus, and off-campus lab expectations are included.

Presents concepts related to the care of clients with complex alterations in mental health, complications of child-bearing and the high-risk newborn, and children with chronic conditions and special needs. Off-campus lab experiences are provided in local hospitals and clinics.

Expands on the content of NURS 201 to present care of clients with complex alterations involving cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, endocrine, neurologic, and cellular function. High-level assessment is emphasized. Off-campus lab experiences in local hospitals and clinics. Prerequisite: SPEE 101, NURS 201.

Focuses on complex alterations in health involving oncology and palliative care, critical care, emergency care, and community public health settings. Off-campus lab will be in specialty areas in regional hospitals and clinics.
