Continuation of the course MUSC 129 - Sequencing. In-depth study of computer-based sequencing and its application in commercial music. Prerequisite: MUSC 129 and 175.

An advanced technical study of western music. Emphasis on modulations, advanced harmonic analysis including secondary dominants, diminished seventh chords, augmented sixth chords, and neapolitan sixth chords. Music majors must also register simultaneously for MUSC& 221. Prerequisite: MUSC& 133 or permission of instructor

An advanced technical study of harmony and form. Study of chords with extensions. Emphasis placed on analysis of music of the romantic period. Students must also register simultaneously for the course MUSC& 222. Prerequisite: MUSC& 231 or permission of the instructor.

An ensemble for the advanced performer (instrumentalists or vocalists). Music reading is imperative. Will perform many styles of music. Concert performances will be both on and off campus and/or tour. Prerequisite: By audition ONLY.

Designed to introduce the student to all the elements of musical theatre. The student will study the audition process, the effect of musical choreography, the historical setting of the work chose, musical score and dialogue.

A large vocal group consisting of the part distribution, Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass. Will perform both sacred and secular music literature. Participation in one evening concert per quarter is mandatory. Previous choral experience is helpful but not necessary. Auditions will take place during the first scheduled class to determine part distribution.

2.00 Credits
For those students that have taken a basic MIDI course and wish to pursue music composition and/or performance on electronic instruments with the use of MIDI. The following topics will be studied: channel mode messages, sampling, voice editing, MIDI drum machines, and MIDI based editor/librarians. Prerequisites: MUSC 175 and the student must be able to demonstrate basic music reading skills.
