A continuation of Visual Basic: Foundation, this course will cover more advanced topics of multidimensional arrays, databases, web forms, serialization and graphics. Prerequisite: CST 122

An introduction to the creation and editing of animated graphic images using Macromedia Flash. Students will learn basic Flash tools and palettes and explore how to use different techniques to create and modify animated graphics. Prerequisite: CNT 117.

A second course in programming dealing with topics of object oriented programming including: inheritance, encapsulation, polymorphism, classes, properties, methods, overloaded methods, overriding methods, events, value types, reference types, early binding, late binding, constructors, destructors, and user controls. Prerequisite: CST 116 or CST 122.

Intended for those who already have a strong foundation in Visual Basic. This course will cover ways to enhance Visual Basic projects including: API calls, sounds, animation, creating help files, modifying the registry, etc. Emphasis will be placed on student presentations and group work. Prerequisite: two quarters of successful programming using Visual Basic.

A second course in object oriented programming covering documentation, standards, exceptions, threads, polymorphic programming, file I/O, network I/O, linked lists, stacks, tress, recursion and an introduction to design patterns. Swing technology will be used throughout the course. Prerequisite CS& 141.

XML (Extensible mark up language), XHTML, Cascading style sheets, Document Type Definitions, Schemae, JavaScript, Document Object Model, Simple API for XML, XSL. Prerequisite: CST 117.

A lecture-only course including, history, data structures, number systems, sorting, cryptography, and ethical issues.

A study of rapid application development (RAD) Java. Development of GUIs using Swing Technology. Object-oriented programming as it is implemented in Java. Introduction to graphics, animation, and multi-threading. Prerequisite: one quarter of prior programming.

Both an introduction to the creation and editing of animated graphic images using Flash as well as ActionScripting with object oriented programming. Prerequisite: experience with an object oriented programming language.

Web-based Internet programming using the JAVA language. Multi-threading, Inet Address class, URL Class, URL Connection Class, client sockets and server sockets. Prerequisite: CST 224 or CST 142.
