An introduction to the profession of early childhood education, focusing on developmentally appropriate practices, types of programs, historical perspectives, ethics, and current issues.     A study of appropriate infant and toddler programs (birth to age 3), including an overview of development, quality caregiving routines, appropriate environments, materials and activities, and teaching/guidance techniques. This course is cross-listed as CDEC 1321. The student may register for either CDEC 1321 or CDEC 1421, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (3 Lec., 2 Lab.)

Corequisite: Students will be required to submit to and pass a criminal background search by the certification date as prescribed by the program and college. Failure to comply will result in the student being dropped from the course. An experience external to the college for an advanced student in a specialized field involving a written agreement between the educational institution and a business or industry. Mentored and supervised by aworkplace employee, the student achieves objectives that are developed and documented by the college and that are directly related to specific occupational outcomes. This may be a paid or unpaid experience. (3 Ext.)

Mentored and supervised by a workplace employee, the student achieves objectives that are developed and documented by the college and that are directly related to specific occupational outcomes. This may be a paid or unpaid experience. (3 Ext.)

Mentored and supervised by a workplace employee, the student achieves objectives that are developed and documented by the college and that are directly related to specific occupational outcomes. This may be a paid or unpaid experience. This course may be repeated if topics and learning outcomes vary. (3 Ext.)

    This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: Two previous CDEC/TECA courses. Corequisite: Students will be required to submit to and pass a criminal background search by the certification date as prescribed by the program and college. Failure to comply will result in the student being dropped from the course. Career related activities encountered in the student's area of specialization are offered through a cooperative agreement between the college, employer, and student. Under supervision of the college and the employer, the student combines classroom learning with work experience. Directly related to a technical discipline, specific learning objectives guide the student through the cooperative experience. Cooperative education may be a paid or unpaid learning experience.
