The government department strongly recommends that students complete ENGL 1301 or the equivalent with a grade of C or higher prior to enrolling in GOVT 2306. Land Use Specialization? CThis course is an introduction to Texas state and local government with an emphasis on land use policy. The course includes the powers and practices of local governments in controlling land use. Topics include annexation, extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ), the legal use of "takings," eminent domain, zoning,Municipal Utility Districts (MUDs), environmental impact considerations, subdivision ordinances, and deed restrictions. This course substitutes for GOVT 2306 for degree and graduation requirements.
