Scientific study of the onset of expansion and consequences of war; conditions of peace, emphasizing alliances, arms races, and crisis escalation. Prerequisite: 100, 101, 102, 103, or 150.

Particular attention to theories of interdependence and imperialism, the position of developing countries in the international system, multinational corporations, and the economic origins of war. Focus on the evolution and impact of international law, the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and selected regional organizations. Prerequisite: 100, 101, 102, 103, or 150.
