    This clinical rotation is designed for physician assistant students who are required to demonstrate competency in this field of medicine for licensure in the state of Tennessee. Students will demonstrate the ability to perform a comprehensive history and physical exam, formulate an appropriate diagnosis and list of differential diagnoses, develop a care plan, present a patient to their preceptor, and document these results in the patient's chart. Students will integrate advances in family medicine with their current knowledge and demonstrate the ability to follow the guidelines for the current standard of care for patients. Students should demonstrate to their preceptors that they have mastered the skills necessary to provide competent care in the family medicine setting.

    Clinical practicum based in a hospital emergency room that provides physician assistant students the opportunity to link basic medical science knowledge to clinical medicine and develop the skills necessary to recognize and manage patients presenting with trauma and/or other life threatening/ emergent problems.

    This clinical practicum is designed for physician assistant students requiring re-certification for licensure. Students will demonstrate the ability to perform a comprehensive history and physical exam, to formulate an appropriate diagnosis and list of differential diagnoses, to develop a care plan, to present a patient to their preceptor, and to document these results in the patients chart. Students will integrate advances in emergency medicine with their current knowledge and demonstrate the ability to follow the guidelines for the current standard of care for patients. Students should demonstrate to their preceptor that they have mastered the skills necessary to treat pateints in an emergency department.

    This clinical practicum is designed for physician assistant students requiring re-certification for licensure. Students will demonstrate the ability to perform a comprehensive history and physical exam, to formulate an appropriate diagnosis and list of differential diagnoses, to develop a care plan, to present a patient to their preceptor, and to decument these results in the patients chart. Students will integrate advances in internal medicine with their current knowledge and demonstrate the ability to follow the guidelines for the current standard of care for patients. Student should demonstrate to their preceptor that they have mastered the skills necessary to treat patients presenting to an internal medicine practice.

    Clinical practicum based in a pediatric office or clinic setting that provides the physician assistant student an opportunity to link basic medical science knowledge to clinical medicine and develop the skills necessary to evaluate and manage clinical problems associated with pediatric patients.

Students will demonstrate the ability to perform a comprehensive history and physical exam, to formulate an appropriate diagnosis and list of differential diagnoses, to develop a care plan, to present a patient to their preceptor, and to document these results in the patients chart. Students will integrate advances in pediatric medicine with their current knowledge and demonstrate the ability to follow the guidelines for the current standard of care for patients. Students should demonstrate to their preceptors that thy have mastered the skills necessary to provide competent care to pediatric patients.

    Clinical practicum that provides the physician assistant student an opportunity to link basic medical science knowledge to clinical medicine and develop skills necessary to differentiate surgical from non-surgical problems and appropriately manage or refer patients presenting with surgical problems.

    This clinical practicum is designed for physician assistant students requiring re-certification for licensure. Students will demonstrate the ability to perform a comprehensive pre-operative history and physical exam, to evaluate these findings with respect to the proposed surgery, to use proper techniques in assisting in the surgical suite, to develop a post-operative care plan, to present a patient to their preceptor, and to document these results in the patients chart. Students will integrate advances in surgery with their current knowledge and demonstrate the ability to follow the guidelines for the current standard of care for patients. Students should demonstrate to their preceptor that they have mastered the skills necessary to care for patients in a general surgery practice.

    Clinical practicum that provides the physician assistant student an opportunity to link basic medical science knowledge to clinical medicine and develop the skills necessary to recognize and manage common mental health disorders.
