    A highly focused and topical course. The format includes student presentations and discussions of reports based on literature, practices, problems, and research. Enrollment is generally limited to fewer than 20 students. Credits: 1-6
  • 1.00 - 3.00 Credits

    Includes current topics, advanced topics and special topics. A course devoted to a particular issue in a specified field. Course content is not wholly included in the regular curriculum. Guest artists or experts may serve as instructors. Enrollments are usually of 10 or fewer students. Credits: 1-3
  • 1.00 - 3.00 Credits

    In-depth exploration of topics not typically found in other college courses. These highly focused courses may require student presentations and discussions of reports based on literature, practices, problems, and research. Enrollment is generally limited to 15 students. Note Registration restriction: Requires permission from the Honors program prior to enrollment Credits: 1-3
  • 1.00 - 3.00 Credits

    Includes current topics, advanced topics and special topics. A course devoted to a particular issue in a specified field. Course content is not wholly included in the regular curriculum. Guest artists or experts may serve as instructors. Enrollments are usually of 10 or fewer students with significant one-on-one student/teacher involvement. Credits: 1-3
  • 1.00 - 3.00 Credits

    Applied, monitored and supervised, field-based learning experience for which the student may or may not be paid. Students gain practical experience; they follow a negotiated and/or directed plan of study. A higher level of supervision is provided by the instructor in these courses than is the case with field experience courses. Credits: 1-3
  • 1.00 - 3.00 Credits

    Independent research problems/projects that lead to a research or design paper but not to a thesis. The plan of study is negotiated by the faculty member and the candidate. Contact between the two may be extensive and intensive. Does not include research courses which are theoretical. Credits: 1-3
  • 1.00 - 12.00 Credits

    Service learning involves the integration of academic learning, relevant service with community partners, purposeful civic engagement and structured reflection for the purpose of enriching the learning experience and increasing student involvement in community service. The academic study may be in any discipline. Note Open to all majors Credits: 1-12
  • 3.00 Credits

    A highly focused and topical course offered under special circumstances and generally outside of the honors curriculum. The format includes student presentations and discussions of reports based on literature, practices, problems, and research. Enrollment is generally limited to fewer than 15 students. Credits: 3
  • 1.00 - 6.00 Credits

    Includes directed study, problems, readings, directed readings, special problems and special projects. Students complete individualized plans of study which include significant one-on-one student/teacher involvement. The faculty member and students negotiate the details of the study plans. Enrollments are usually 10 or fewer students. Meetings depending upon the requirements of the topic. Credits: 1-6
  • 1.00 - 6.00 Credits

    The senior thesis is the capstone experience of the honors program. It includes significant scholarly work including, but not limited to, research or creative activity and a written component describing the experience. The plan of study is negotiated by the thesis committee and the student. Contact between the student and thesis director is extensive and intensive. Credits: 1-6
