    Prerequisites: JOUR 301 and permission of the instructor. Enrollment limited. A seminar devoted to the study of issues on the frontier of developments in law and journalism. Issues to be addressed include limits on the dignitary torts of privacy and emotional distress; limitations on public availability of governmental information; the impact of new technology on communications law; proposals for reform of libel law; and the role of reporters, editors and legal counsel in the news process. Students proposing to undertake an internship must meet and coordinate their plans with the department’s internship supervisor by November 15 of the year in which they plan to serve the internship. Students undertaking an internship in the summer may receive credit in the following fall term only as an overload.
