This course prepares students in the biological sciences for advanced courses in their emphasis areas. Topics covered in this course include: mendelian inheritance; mitosis and meiosis; basic cell structure; chromosomal basis of inheritance and linkage; extra nuclear genes; chromosomal mutations; epistasis, alleles and the environment; gene function; genetic mapping; population genetics; quantitative genetics; evolution and natural selection.
