Human perception of the social world is studied from both a communications and sociological perspective. Elements of "picture-based media" as a means ofmolding cultural perceptions, social biases, and personal views of reality are studied. Through a series of exercises, students critically examine images in art, still photographs, television, advertising, film and documentaries to determine their sociological messages.
