    The first in a three-course sequence designed to provide the student with extensive hands-on experience in the application of accounting practice and methodology in a computerized environment. Focusing exclusively on spreadsheet applications, the emphasis of the course is divided between learning the software, Microsoft Excel, and using the software to complete numerous accounting and financial reporting problems. Topics include; an introduction to the accounting cycle, analyzing and recording business transactions, posting to ledgers, using special journals, inventory valuation, preparing financial statements, and year-end closing.     The second course of a two-term sequence, this course builds on the concepts presented in the first term, providing expanded coverage of operating activities, financial reporting, and accounting for selected balance sheet items. Practical bookkeeping and accounting applications will be emphasized through various assignments and exercises, and a practice set which will be completed using a computerized accounting system. Enrollment is therefore limited based on available computer resources.
