Teaches practical applications and fundamentals of A.C. and D.C. machines. Includes the conccepts of magnetism and generators used in electrical motor applications. Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.

Covers theory, symbols, properties, and applications of solid state devices in industry. Lecture 1-2 hour. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 4-5 hours per week.

Studies the construction, theory of operations, and applications of DC and AC machines. Variable hours per week.

Studies rotating devices, single phase and polyphase distribution, magnetic devices, circuits and systems for industrial applications. Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.

Deals with installation, programming, interfacing, and concepts of troubleshooting programmable controllers. Co/Prerequisite ETR 156 and ELE 211 or equivalent, or permission of instructor. Lecture 1-2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 3-4 hours per week.

Teaches the practical applications of industrial and commercial wiring. Includes the principles essential to the understanding of conduit applications and other raceway installations. Includes conduit sizing, cutting, bending, and threading. Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.

Observes in a program approved clinical/field setting. Includes topics for both EMS 111 and EMS 113, dependant upon the program in which the student is participating and is a co-requisite to both EMS 111 and EMS 113. Lecture 1 hour per week.

Prepares the student for Virginia Enhanced certification eligibility and begins the sequence for National Registry Intermediate and/or Paramedic certification. Includes the theory and application of the following: foundations, human systems, pharmacology, overview of shock, venous access, airway management, patient assessment, respiratory emergencies, allergic reaction, and assessment based management. Conforms at a minimum to the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services curriculum. Co-requisite: EMS 170, Clinical and Field Internship. Lecture 3 hours per week. Laboratory 2 hours per week. Total 5 hours per week.

Focuses on the interpretation of basic electrocardiograms (ECG) and their significance. Includes an overview of anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system including structure, function and electrical conduction in the heart. Covers advanced concepts that build on the knowledge and skills of basic dyshythmia determination and introduction to 12 lead ECG. Lecture 2 Hours per week.

Continues the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services Intermediate and /or Paramedic curricula. Includes ALS pharmacology, drug and fluid administration with emphasis on patient assessment, differential diagnosis and management of multiple medical complaints. Includes, but are not limited to conditions relating to cardiac, diabetic, neurological, non-traumatic abdominal pain, environmental, behavioral, gynecology, and toxicological disease conditions. Prerequisites: Current EMTB certification, EMS 151 and EMS 153. Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 5 hours per week.
