Internships provide an opportunity for psychology majors to intern in a professional setting in order to integrate academic knowledge with experience in the world of work, or to conduct applied research under the supervision of faculty and apply different methodologies to research questions. Prereq: Psyc 201, 396; Junior or senior standing; Permission of instructor. 1-5-1, 1-5-2, 1-5-3.

The purpose of this course is to assist students in acquiring a working model of assessment that will guide them through the assessment process from initial client referral to final report. This course provides a general overview of individual psychological assessment and offers student opportunities to begin to develop the skills needed to become throughtul decision-makers throughout the assessment process. Prequisites: CEDU 616, 620, PSYC 635, 602. 3-0-3

This course focuses on theories, models, and processes of consultation, leadership, and advocacy. Emphasis is placed on identifying community, evnironmental, and institutional opportunities that enhance, as well as barriers that impede, client success. Strategies designed to enhance effective teamwork within mental health agencies and among various services provided by the public and private sectors will be emphasized.

Advanced study of the major diagnostic groups included in the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) of the American Psychiatric Association. Students will demonstrate ability to formulate diagnoses for sample case studies. Prerequisite: Undergraduate course in Abnormal Psychology/ Psychopathology. 3-0-3
