Teaches professional skills necessary to make the transition from the role of MH consumer/client to that of services provider. Covers confidentiality, professionalism, boundaries and roles, cultural diversity and personal values. Lecture 3 hours per week.

The goal of this course is to provide a rudimentary understanding of wine principles, varietals, and quality.? By the end of the course, students should have the ability to recognize the different attributes of good wine, appreciate the different styles inherent in wine, and, above all, enjoy wine.

The goal of this course is to provide an in-depth study of red wines from around the world. Focus is placed on the primary red wine grape varietals and gaining an understanding of how the major growing areas of the world create different wines from them. By the end of the course, students will be able to appreciate how diverse the scope of flavors can be from each grape varietal, and have a stronger grasp of the signature flavors from the major white wine growing areas of the world.

Introduces commercial horticulture industry with emphasis on career opportunities. Examines equipment, facilities, and physical arrangements of production, wholesale and retail establishments. Surveys individual fields within horticulture. Introduces growing, facility maintenance, transplanting, and planting. Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.

Teaches principles and practices of sexual and asexual methods. Examines commercial and home practices. Provides experience in techniques using seed-spores, cuttings, grafting, budding, layering, and division. Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.

Explores environmental factors which affect plant growth, including rainfall, humidity, wind, temperature, sunlight, irrigation, heating, and shading. Examines methods of inducing and breeding dormancy, lighting, and shading systems, and the relationship between day length and flowering. Lecture 3 hours per week.
