    This course is designed to provide the practicing prehospital care provider with a specific body of knowledge related to the prehospital assessment and care of the trauma patient. It is stressed that this is a continuing education program and contains information that may be a review for some or all participants. The uniqueness of this program rests not with an entirely new body of knowledge, but instead with advances in prehospital trauma intervention techniques. Students will use new combinations and applications of existing skills and knowledge to better their patients' chances at surviving traumatic events.

    This course will teach the participant how to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies such as cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, stroke and hypothermic adult patient. The student will review rhythm recognition and how to use the heart monitor in the various modes of electrical therapy . The student will learn to recognize the signs and symptoms along with the management algorithm associated with the individual life threatening rhythm. The advanced provider will learn and practice the various forms of advanced airway management along with a review of CPR for victims of all ages (including ventilation with barrier devices and bag-mask devices), use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO). Prerequisites CPR for the Healthcare Provider, must be an Advanced Healthcare Provider

The advanced provider will learn and practice the various forms of advanced airway management along with a review of CPR for victims of all pediatric patients (including ventilation with barrier devices and bag-mask devices), use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO). The student is presented with opportunities to become more effective, discerning, ethical, flexible, perceptive and understanding in both professional and personal endeavors. Special attention is given to appropriate communications skills, multinational and diversity awareness, teamwork and job-seeking skills as applied to an increasingly customer-oriented workplace.     This segment introduces students to the study of how human relations helps achieve career success and increased work/life balance. The course examines strategies for improving personal and workplace communications, identification of personal communication styles, how language and cultural differences may create barriers to effective communication, approaches for creating a professional presence, self-esteem building, and professional ethics. The modular courses HMRL 101A, HMRL 101B, and HMRL 101C may be taken in any order and are (in combination) equivalent to HMRL 1010. Course is offered On-line

    This segment introduces students to the study of how human relations helps achieve career success and increased work/life balance. One major focus of this segment emphasizes helping students to understand that attitudes represent a powerful force in life and within the workplace. In addition, the course examines how several human diversity factors may impact attitude formation and relationships in the workplace. Students will achieve an understanding of self-motivation, constructive self-disclosure for building strong and healthy interpersonal relationships, the influence of emotions on thinking and behavior, and the factors that contribute to the emotional balance and stronger relationships in the workplace. The modular courses HMRL 101A, HMRL 101B, and HMRL 101C may be taken in any order and are (in combination) equivalent to HMRL 1010. Course is offered On-line

    This segment introduces students to the study of how human relations helps achieve career success and increased work/life balance. This segment emphasizes the importance of teamwork and examines the basic elements of the team-building leadership style, the sources of workplace conflict and conflict resolution, valuing diversity in the workplace, evaluating personal stress levels and learning how to identify and implement effective stress management strategies. In addition, students will examine how the traditional roles of both sexes are changing in today's world and workplace. Students will examine traditional measures of 'success' and evaluate for themselves a personal definition of career success.     This course prepares the student to assume increasingly responsible leadership roles in his/her personal, professional and academic lives.
