    The course will provide candidates with the philosophical, historical and social foundations background that will enable them to understand their roles as teachers and as 'Orchestrators of the Learning Environment.' The content will be based on a study of the driving social forces as they relate to the different time periods and philosophic positions and the impact these forces have in shaping the role of education. Candidates will study and understand the national and state standards relevant to k-12 education and teacher preparation in the United States. Each candidate will acquire competency in using education technologies such as Internet based course delivery systems, database software, and digital portfolios. All candidates will develop dispositions for ethics in teaching and a high level commitment for the teaching profession.     This course is designed to increase multicultural knowledge and positively impact the diversity disposition of pre-service teachers. It is also designed to help pre-service teachers become more aware of ways to motivate and positively impact the youth they will encounter in their future classrooms. High value is placed on the discussion of human understanding, tolerance, and the acceptance of multiple worldviews. Teacher candidates will examine existing attitudes toward various minority groups such as racial, ethnicity, age, sex, mental and physical disabilities, and explore the ways in which these attitudes influence the assessment of learner needs and prescribe learning activities. Teacher candidates will also examine the role of attitudes in implementing and assessing learning experiences. Special emphasis is put on skill development and the training of pre-service teachers to be effective orchestrators of the learning environment, which helps to ensure the performance assessment of teacher candidates. Prerequisites Application and administration into the program and completion of PPST.

    This course focuses on the visual and technical aspects of paint/raster software. The student acquires a basic technical understanding of computer graphics and a basic technical vocabulary. Paint software is learned through a set of projects that require creative solutions and reinforced drawing and design elements and principles. Principles of 2-D animation are explored. Corel Painter is the primary software. Photoshop is also used.

    This course gives the student mastery in resolution independent (vector) software and continued experience with bitmapped software. Basic elements and principles of design are explored through a series of projects that emphasize visual communication and creative problem solving. Adobe Illustrator is the primary software. Photoshop is incorporated and interactive software is introduced.

    The basic principles of animation are explored as concepts, stories, computer development and storyboards are created. Collaboration, brainstorming and idea critiques are used to arrive at stories that will work as strong animation. Prerequisites ARTS 1010

    This course will provide the student with basic competency and skill In HTML web page design and WYSWYG web page creation software. The student constructs and designs web pages using a variety of necessary supporting software including Photoshop and text editors. The student taking this course should have a good understanding of bitmap and vector software and a beginning level of page layout software. New technologies for HTML web capable media will also be addressed. Prerequisites EIMA 1110

    The content of this course emphasizes concepts and processes of drawing directly into the computer. The primary medium will be drawing with a digitizing pen and pad using bitmap and vector software programs but traditional drawing materials will be integrated. Form and space are explored through direct and indirect observation, including studies involving the human figure. Drawing the human form in space will prepare the student for sequential art, animation, and will develop basic drawing skills on the computer. Prerequisites EIMA 1100 or EIMA 1110

    This course provides the student with the necessary technical software applications to produce graphics for television. Subjects and concepts are frame linear digitizing, bit-map operations, object oriented linear digitizing, bit-map operations, object oriented graphics, 3-D font animation, digital keying, traveling mattes, combined techniques and signal measurement of graphics.

    Parameters of Adobe Flash software are explored. Design elements and principles are applied to graphics, animation, and interactive objects using Flash as a medium. Prerequisites EIMA 1110

    The basic principles of film structure and animation are explored through observation, concept and narrative development, character design, and storyboard creation. An emphasis is placed on the practice of drawing as a communication process to visualize stories that work as strong animation. In addition, collaboration, brainstorming, presentation, and critiques are central activities. Prerequisites EIMA 2310
