This course is designed to explore figure sculpture on the advanced level and expand on what students have learned in ART 453. Techniques will include armature design and construction, advanced mold making, wax casting, plaster and finally bronze casting. We will proceed with the study of artistic anatomy of the body translating this knowledge into form and structure. Projects will range from a series of busts to full figure sculptures in the round to a hypothetical commission. Students are encouraged to develop personal themes and work in series. This course is for the major and non-major alike. P. ART 453.

An Architectural, Artistic, and Social Historical Survey of the city of Rome, concentrating on the ancient city but also tracing its development (as appropriate) through modern times. Political History will be covered to the extent needed to provide a framework for the course, but does not overlap with CNE/HIS 404.

Course aims to identify the features that characterize Roman art from antiquity to the present and to examine the significance of this art in the context of Roman politics, religion, and history . A comprehensive survey of the major monuments of Spanish art from cave painting to the present, with emphasis on major artists (i.e., Montanes, El Greco, Zurburan, Velasquez, Goya, Picasso, Rivera, and etc.).

Survey of native American art from the 16th Century to the present with a concentration on the art of the continental United States . Includes Northwest, Southwest, and Plains cultures.

An overview of management concepts and theories as applied to arts organizations. Development of an understanding of the balance between the individual and the organization, the artist and the organization, and the community and the organization.

Placement in area arts organizations on a part-time basis for one semester, witnessing first-hand the nature and business of these organizations. Placement in Omaha area arts organizations such as, the Creighton Art Gallery or Theatre Box Office, Omaha Symphony, Nebraska Shakespeare Festival, or Joslyn Museum. P: ART 480.
