This course will examine autism and Asperger Syndrome, educational criteria, identification and assessment, personal perspectives, and teaching strateiges. Broad areas to be covered in this course include: the breadth and variability of ASD characteristics; how multiple disciplines interact around ASD issues; how ASD effects learning, socialization, perception, communication, sensory processing and thinking; life span issues (from early childhood to adulthood); and, the perspectives of individuals with ASD, as well as their family members.
