Prerequisite: Membership in Bascom Honors This course will study the meaning of witches and magic in European and American history from the Middle Ages to the present. Topics include witch hunts in Early Modern Europe, the decline of magic during the Enlightenment, the Salem witchcraft trials in early America, the rise of the Dracula legend, and the significance of these topics in popular culture from the “Crucible” to “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”
