ARTS 377: EXTRACURRICULAR STUDIES

1-6 credits each semester. Prerequisite: approval by the department and the dean, in accordance with the policy on granting credit for extracurricular activities. Extracurricular activities may be approved for credit based on objectives, criteria, and evaluative procedures as formally determined by the department and the student prior to the semester in which the activity is to take place. Such credit is subject to review by the provost.

A study of gallery practices, involving the student with the practical concerns of preparation and presentation: lighting, sequencing, mounting, hanging, and all other necessary activities prior to professional exhibition. The semester culminates with group exhibitions of work by the members of the senior class. Seniors with a graphic design emphasis take ARTS 401. (qualifies as a CAP experience)

Students will prepare a portfolio of their work for presentation to a professional who is currently working in the field.
