This course is an introduction to the basic procedures used in the collection and analysis of data in the behavioral sciences. Students conduct research projects based on the psychological literature, following the appropriate ethical guidelines. Statistical software is used to conduct descriptive and inferential analyses, and students select and apply statistical procedures to help answer psychological research questions. Students learn to write conclusions that are supported by statistical analyses. Through an examination of primary text and the completion of an original research project, emphasis will be placed on the critical analysis and integration of broad psychological theory as it connects to the selected theme.
