This internship course explores careers and training in a supervised work setting. Combines theory with field experience. Students spend approximately 2.5 hours per week per credit on the job, complete academic work and meet with faculty. An understanding of the essential mechanical, electrical, and software sub-system technologies integrated as a fully functional automated system is developed. A short unit on electronics provides foundation for learning the digital-based communication interfaces. The function of sensors, actuators, and controllers is addressed. Project work will provide hands-on opportunities to experience the characteristics and behaviors of automated systems.
