Video is everywhere in our lives. Technicians need to have a basic understanding of the signal characteristics, cabling, and distribution requirements of video networks. In this class we will look at different types of video files, resolutions, and distribution methods. Types of projectors and their adjustment and alignment will be discussed. An understanding of installation basics and best practices is essential for an Audio Visual tech. In this class we will look at finding our way around Section 70 of the National Electric Code (NEC). We will also work with various tools used in the trade to provide familiarity with them. Basic experience with drywall repair, and an overview of the industry and various paths of employment will also be explored. (Prereq: None) (EP) 3 cr

Students will analyze and implement setting up the monitor systems, utilize sound reinforcement equipment, work as a member of a team, and troubleshoot problems. This course covers the elements that go into designing a public address system. Students in the course will gain hands-on experience in the use of the software for room and loudspeaker system modeling, as well as the tools to optimize existing systems. This course covers advanced mixing techniques on: digital, analogue and Pro Tools mixing consoles; advanced automation techniques; and digital mastering for duplication and release. In lectures, demonstrations and labs, students will learn advanced signal processing and automated mixing techniques to achieve finished masters.

This course covers advanced applications of digital audio recording and editing, emphasizing mixing techniques of Pro Tools systems. Successful completion of this course will result in the completion of the AVID Pro Tools 201/210m curriculum and enablement to take the AVID Pro Tools 201/210m certification exams.
