Recommended preparation: Nine credits of MARN courses at the Junior - Senior level. Consent of Instructor. Students taking this course will be assigned a final grade of S (satisfactory) or U (unsatisfactory). An internship under the direction of MARN faculty. Placements stress application of academic training. A journal of activities is required. One credit may be earned for each 42 hours of pre-approved activities in a semester to a maximum of three credits.

May be repeated for credit with change in content and program coordinator's consent. Internship with institutions, businesses, or agencies engaged in areas directly related to Maritime Studies. Maritime Studies faculty supervisor, student, and field supervisor of host organization will jointly define a specific project to advance student's educational program as well as mission of the host institution. Grades will be based on performance of the learning contract and a final academic product.
