Students explore various structural/cultural forces that shape and change marriage and family. Topics include poverty, crime, violence, discrimination, gender, environmental abuse, and racial and economic inequality. Within a general framework of religious, political, social and economic history, the course emphasizes the literature, philosophy, art and music of each of these civilizations.
