3 Semester Hours Develops skills essential to creating and editing business documents. Covers grammar, spelling, diction, punctuation, capitalization, and other usage problems.

3 Semester Hours Fundamental principles of alphabetic abbreviated writing course designed for office information technology students as well as administrative personnel, executives, and anyone who takes notes for personal or professional use. Emphasis is placed on English grammar, punctuation, spelling, and speed development. A minimum writing rate of 40 words per minute is required for successful completion of the course. The student will also learn how to transcribe SuperWrite documents.

6 Semester Hours The course is an introduction to the computer and using word processing software, spreadsheet software, and electronic graphical presentation software packages. Emphasis will be placed on applying practical business applications. For high school dual credit students only.

3 Semester Hours This course presents the basic alphabetic indexing rules and the proper procedure for coding records for filing as recommended by the Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA). Emphasis on records management cycle in manual and automated office environments.

3 Semester Hours This course provides an introduction to a variety of office tools and equipment used in various business offices. Equipment covered will include: computers, laptops, telephones, cell phones, and pagers; faxes, copiers, scanners, printers, calculators, projectors, TV and VCR, digital cameras, transcribing equipment, typewriters, postage equipment, check folding machines, tape recorders. Emphasis will be placed on developing knowledge of the equipment and its use to complete business tasks.

1-3 Semester Hours Presents courses in business which the College expects to offer only once or occasionally in response to specific curriculum or community interests or needs. The course may consist of seminars, specialized or individual instruction, and/or research in an area related to business operations support.

3 Semester Hours This course presents the fundamental principles that will enable the student to expedite office work including office organization and management, office communications, filing systems, office location, layout and equipment, and design and control of office procedures.

3 Semester Hours Prerequisite: BOS 251 Business support operations skills will be integrated through problem-solving assignments and office simulations. Students will make decisions and apply the skills and knowledge taught in BOS 251 to complete projects in office organization and management, layout and equipment, filing procedures as well as communications tasks including agendas, reports, news releases, itineraries, supplies and inventory management.

3 Semester Hours Prerequisite: RDG 090 or minimum acceptable test scores for placement in college-level reading courses. This course surveys the field of business, emphasizing the functions and structure of private business enterprise, and the roles of management, accounting, finance, and marketing in the enterprise.
