Includes discussion of the verbal and non-verbal levels of persuasion and concentrates on effective delivery, theories of persuasion, and use of support in effective, persuasive speeches. 4 class hrs/wk, 4 cr. each Introduces the Spanish language (including listening, speaking, reading, and writing) and Hispanic culture (including geography, customs, daily life, heritage, and literature), facilitated by the study of vocabulary, grammar, short readings, and guided conversation. Instructor and students use Spanish as the primary language of the class. Prerequisite: These classes are to be taken sequentially. SPN 101: None; SPN 102: SPN 101, one year of high school Spanish, or consent of instructor; SPN 103: SPN 102, two years of high school Spanish, or consent of instructor.

3 class hrs/wk, 3 cr. each Covers Spanish for beginners whose primary goal is basic communication in the language and an understanding of Hispanic culture. Listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills are developed with an emphasis on conversation, facilitated by the study of vocabulary and structure. Instructor and students use Spanish as the primary language of the class. Prerequisite: These classes are to be taken sequentially.
