1-3 Cr. Courses on topics of interest to religious studies students offered on the basis of need, interest, or timeliness. Prerequisite: 102 or 130. Restricted to students with freshman or sophomore standing. May be repeated for credit. G2, G9

1-3 Cr. Non-classroom experience in the fi eld of ministry. Credit for experience must be sought prior to occurrence. Placements are generally part-time and off campus. Course includes theological preparation and refl ection on the experience. Areas of ministry include children, youth, adults, aged, sick, dying, needy, etc. Prerequisite: six RLST credits. Restricted to students with freshman or sophomore standing. Permission of instructor required. Graded CR/NC.

1-3 Cr. With the consent of chairperson and in consultation with a faculty member in the department, a student may engage in independent study in any of the areas approved by the instructor. Goals, objectives, and courses of study are to be set up before the student fi nalizes registration. Refer to the academic policy section for independent study policy. An independent study contract is required. Prerequisite: 102 or 130. May be repeated for credit.

3 Cr. A consideration of prayer: its meaning, its value and its place in our lives. A study of spirituality in both the Eastern and Western traditions, with an emphasis on Christian spirituality in its many different forms. Prerequisite: 102 or 130. G2, G9

3 Cr. An inquiry into the adult questions of faith. A study of the meanings of sin, suffering, pain, evil and the sources of hope and redemption as experienced by adult believers. A wholistic approach to faith. Prerequisite: 102 or 130. G2, G9
