This continuing education course introduces schoolyard restoration as a tool in developing integrated curriculum and fostering a sense of place in K-12 students. The course is designed for formal and informal educators of our northern region, as well as local resource professionals and interested community members. The course develops the rationale, concepts and methods for implementing successful schoolyard restoration programs. The course will focus on methods of restoring meadows, woodlands, and wetlands of the north country, and will model instructional approaches in restoration-based activities. This course complements an intensive summer training institute in schoolyard restoration held at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum.
