This course introduces qualitative and quantitative methods for meaningful, ethical inquiry around social and cultural values and practice with young children and families. Qualitative methods include an introduction to educational anthropology, ethnographic research, and multimodal interviewing. Quantitative methods include foundational design, data collection and statistical analysis, interpretation and presentation. Students will develop research questions and gain practice in methods to propel their own research and projects that may inform practice, policy and systems change.

Students meet weekly to view and discuss video clips from work with young children in school, home, or community settings.
