This course provides a survey of educative making from a constructionist perspective. Students will have hand-on experiences using LEGO robotics, other physical computing platforms, and use digital fabrication tools. In addition, students will design project-based, interdisciplinary mini-unit plans.

This course will explore issues of ethical and professional conduct as a steward of school resources, student academic success and well-being, and faculty and staff professional development. The course will also explore strategies and practices associated with Distributive Leadership (DL) which involves a team of educators from different levels of leadership, grades, and/or subject areas in a school working collaboratively to create positive, schoolwide improvement. This course will be based on the Utah Educator Professional Standards as described in Utah State School Board rule.

Effective school leadership has a powerful effect on teaching and learning and ultimately will increase overall student achievement. This course will explore strategies and responsibilities that will provide the guidance candidates need to provide strong leadership for better schools. Additionally, this course will examine the role educational leaders play in advocating for best practices in schools

In this course, students will learn about school-level leadership which will lead toward improved instruction and learning. Students will explore and discuss current research and best practices in the fields of instructional leadership, learning theory, school climate and culture, effective teaching methods, professional development, and the relationship of instruction, curriculum, and assessment

This course will focus on strategic student support systems including school-wide, classroom, and individual student academic behavioral processes to support school improvement.

This course will provide directed and supervised leadership experiences in public education settings. Students will engage in leadership experiences and complete tasks to demonstrate competency as required by Utah State Board Rule.

This course provides an overview of the various types of institutions of higher education including a brief history, typical institutional organizational structures, principal administrative functions, and the philosophy of administration overall. Strategic decision making within organizations will also be discussed.

This course provides an overview of current issues and trends, challenges, research, and policies impacting higher education at the institutional, state, national, and international level.

Changes of the overall structure to the Master of Education program enabled the addition of this course. Currently the program lacks any courses focused on students and student success, both critical elements of a graduate program in Education with an emphasis in Higher Education Leadership. This course will remedy that and ensure our program has a course dedicated to helping students learn about college student access and success.

This course will provide directed and supervised experiences in higher education administrative settings. Students will spend the required hours per semester in a structured, supervised setting.
