In addition to gaining knowledge of the subject, students develop skills in critical thinking, historical research, and writing. Prerequisite: Fulfillment of Communications Literacy CL2 requirement.

This course addresses the causes of the Civil War, the war itself, and the war's aftermath-Reconstruction. In the course, students analyze the transformative nature of the American Civil War era.
