Designed to improve oral skills and speaking strategies in different discourse genres including informal, formal, academic, and travel. Analysis and discussion of videos, films, short stories, and news articles highlighting Portuguese-speaking culture, with a focus on Brazil. Three lecture hours a week for one semester. Prerequisite: Portuguese 611D, 611S, 612, 312L, or 516. POR 119S, 219S, 319S, 419S, 519S, 619S, 719S, 819S, 919S. Topics in Portuguese. This course is used to record credit the student earns while enrolled at another institution in a program administered by the University's Study Abroad Office. Credit is recorded as assigned by the study abroad adviser in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. University credit is awarded for work in an exchange program; it may be counted as coursework taken in residence. Transfer credit is awarded for work in an affiliated studies program. May be repeated for credit when the topics vary.
