Includes exposure of intra-oral and extra-oral radiographs, quality assurance, radiographic interpretation, patient selection criteria, and other ancillary radiographic techniques.     Study of the principles and concepts of community public health and dental health education with an emphasis on community assessment, educational planning, implementation, and evaluation.     Study of dental materials including the physical and chemical properties and application of the various materials used in dentistry.     Study of the dental hygienist in the dental health care system and the basic concepts of disease prevention and health promotion. Communication and behavior modification skills are emphasized to facilitate the role of the dental hygienist as an educator.     Health-related work-based learning experiences that enable the learner to apply specialized occupational theories, skills, and concepts. This instruction provides detailed education, training andwork-based experience and direct patient/client care. Specific detailed learning objectives are developed for each course by the faculty. On-site clinical instruction, supervision, and evaluation are the responsibility of the College faculty. Clinical experiences are unpaid external learning experiences.. Course may be repeated if topics and learning outcomes vary. Prerequisites: DHYG 2231, DHYG 2361, DHYG 1315, SOCI 1301, ENGL 2311. Corequisites: DHYG 1123, DHYG 1291, and a Fine Arts/Humanities Elective.
