Algebra-level physics sequence, with laboratories, that includes study of mechanics and heat. This course will focus on selected topics in physics as an introductory scientific investigation of the physical phenomena around us. During this first semester of the two-course sequence, students will primarily investigate the physics concepts related to motion and factors affecting motion of objects. These include Unit One - Analysis of Motion, Unit Two - Two-Dimensional Motion, Unit Three - Forces, Unit Four - Momentum and Energy, and Unit Five - Torques and Static Equilibrium. The two semesters of College Physics are primarily based on constructivist methodology performed in a cooperative learning environment. Therefore, most of the student's learning will occur in group activities with minimum lecture input from the instructor. Three lecture and three laboratory hours per week. TSI Requirement: M3; R3; W2. Prerequisite: Two years of high school algebra or equivalent. Lab Fee: $24
