Includes all the skills necessary to provide emergency medical care at a basic life support level with an ambulance service or other specialized services. Prerequisite: CPR Card. Provides detailed education, training and work-based experience, and direct patient/ client care, generally at a clinical site. Specific detailed learning objectives are developed for each course by the faculty. On-site clinical instruction, supervision, evaluation, and placement are the responsibility of the College faculty. Clinical experiences are unpaid external learning experiences. Includes hospital external experience with emphasis on Cardiology, and Pharmacology. Prerequisites: EMSP 1162, 1161 or consent of program director. Concurrent enrollment in: EMSP 2248, 2161, and 2338. Semester Hours 1 (6 clinical hours/week)

The plan relates the workplace training and experiences to the student's general and technical course of study. The guided external experiences may be paid or unpaid. Covers all aspects of the utilization of medication in treating emergency situations. Course is designed to compliment Cardiology, Special Populations, and Medical Emergency courses. Prerequisites: EMT-Intermediate, EMSP 2330, 2434. Corequisites: EMSP 1161, 2161, 2444, 2338. Semester Hours 2 (1 lec/2 lab)

Studies in detail the knowledge and skills necessary to reach competence in the assessment and management of ill or injured patients in nontraditional populations. Certificates include PEPP, PALS and NRP. Prerequisites: EMSP 1161, 1162, 1355. Must have taken VNSG 1420, HPRS 1206 and COSC 1301, with a minimum grade of C or currently enrolled in these classes. Corequisites: EMSP 2434, 2162 and 2163. Semester Hours 3 (2 lec/2 lab)
