Human resources management studies will include the personnel functions of employment planning, recruitment, selection, training and development, compensation, labor relations, and governmental regulations administration. Prerequisite: Grade of "C" or better in BMGT3310, and junior standing. Management majors and minors or Sport Management majors. Fall.

This course is designed to explore the processes of bargaining and negotiation as social and managerial activities. Special emphasis will be given to the areas of interpersonal and intergroup confl ict, in addition to interpersonal influence techniques and the tactics and strategies involved with improved bargaining and negotiation. The major purpose of the course is for each participant to gain insight into their own negotiating style and to become a more effective negotiator, as well as a more astute observer of social process. The course will involve extensive use of cases, role-plays, and related participative activities, enhanced by rigorous self-review and introspection. Prerequisite: BMGT 3310.

Issues related to team-based organizations will be examined. Focus is placed on team development and leadership, including factors associated with high performing teams. Differences between team-based and traditional organizations are examined. Skills will be developed to deal with problems faced by team leaders. Prerequisite: Grade of "C" orbetter in BMGT 3310, and junior standing.

The design and structure of organizations will be related to descriptive and prescriptive models to analyze organization systems. A systematic study will be made of organizations as social systems operating within an external environment to achieve goals. Prerequisite: Grade of "C" or better in BMGT 3310, andjunior standing. This course covers the theory and practice of managing a small business in the U.S.A. Emphasis is upon the practical considerations of managing and sustaining a profitable small business. The course will tie together the many considerations facing the business owner. Prerequisite: BMGT 3310. Majors and minors. Spring.

Labor and management relations issues included in the course will be labor legislation, union organizations, contract negotiations, labor contracts, discipline, grievances, and arbitration. Prerequisite: Grade of "C" or betterin BMGT 3310, Management and Sport Management majors only. Fall.

Skills learned in many disciplines such as Management, Finance, and Marketing will be integrated to solve business case problems. Chief executive-level decision making under conditions of uncertainty will be practiced. Prerequisites: BACC 2312, BFIN 3311, BMGT 3310, BMKT 3311, and taken during fi nal semester.

This course permits students to enhance their knowledge within their major fi eld of specialization through application of concepts, principles, and techniques learned in the classroom. It consists of supervised paid work as a professional-level intern for an employer with an approved internship program. Application must be approved prior to registration. Prerequisite: Junior standing, 3.0 GPA in major and overall, and consent of the Dean.
