    An overview of the historical development of radiography, basic radiation protection, an introduction to medical terminology, ethical and legal issues for health care professionals, and an orientation to the program and to the health care system. Patient assessment, infection control procedures, emergency and safety procedures, communication and patient interaction skills, and basic pharmacology are also included. Learning Outcomes: Define basic medical terms and ethical and legal standards; demonstrate basic radiographic protection and general safety in patient care practices; demonstrate proper assessment of patient condition; identify emergency situations; and identify pharmaceuticals and their applications. Prerequisite: Acceptance into the Radiologic Technology Program; Co-requisites: RADR 1411, RADR 1213, RADR 1360

    An introduction to radiographic positioning terminology, the proper manipulation of equipment, positioning and alignment of the anatomical structure and equipment, and evaluation of images for proper demonstration of basic anatomy. Learning Outcomes: Define radiographic positioning terms; manipulate equipment properly; position and align anatomical structure and equipment; and evaluate images for proper demonstration of anatomy. Prerequisite: Acceptance into the Radiologic Technology Program; Co-requisites: RADR 1409, RADR 1213, RADR 1360
  • 2.00 Credits

    Radiographic imaging technique formulation. Includes equipment quality control, image quality assurance, and the synthesis of all variables in image production. Learning Outcomes: Analyze image quality; demonstrate procedures for minimizing patient exposure and using quality control to optimize equipment performance; apply methods of image quality assurance; demonstrate adaptation of technical variables to changing conditions; and describe the concept and theories of Digital Imaging. Prerequisite: RADR 1363; Co-requisites RADR 2431, RADR 2360
  • 2.00 Credits

    Disease processes and their appearance on radiographic images. Learning Outcomes: Classify types of diseases; explain the pathogenesis of common diseases; and identify and correlate normal and abnormal radiographic findings. Prerequisites: RADR 2205, RADR 2431, and RADR 2360; Co-requisites: RADR 2313, RADR 2235 and RADR 2560

    A capstone course focusing on the synthesis of professional knowledge, skills, and attitudes in preparation for professional employment and lifelong learning. Learning Outcomes: Synthesize professional knowledge, skills, and attitudes; demonstrate entry level competencies for professional employment; and demonstrate skills for lifelong learning. Prerequisites: RADR 2205, RADR 2431, and RADR 2360; Co-requisites: RADR 2313, RADR 2217 and RADR 2560
