    A health-related work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional. Learning Outcomes: As outlined in the learning plan, the student will apply the theory, concepts and skills involving specialized materials, equipment, procedures, regulations, laws, and interactions within and among political, economic, environmental, social, and legal systems associated with the particular occupation and business/ industry; demonstrate legal and ethical behavior, safety practices, interpersonal and teamwork skills, communicating in the applicable language of the occupation and the business or industry . Key Concepts: Students will become competent in analyzing EKG strips and cardiac drug therapy. Prerequisite: EMSP 2544.

Key Concepts: The student will gain proficiency and demonstrate competence in the use of oxygen therapy, patient assessment, bandaging and splinting, the use of the AED unit, and the administration of drugs allowed by TDH for EMT-B's. Prerequisite: Acceptance into EMS Program; EMSP 1501.

    A health-related work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional. Learning Outcomes: As outlined in the learning plan, the student will apply the theory, concepts and skills involving specialized materials, equipment, procedures, regulations, laws, and interactions within and among political, economic, environmental, social, and legal systems associated with the particular occupation and business/ industry; demonstrate legal and ethical behavior, safety practices, interpersonal and teamwork skills, communicating in the applicable language of the occupation and the business or industry. Key Concepts: The student will gain proficiency and demonstrate competence in the use of equipment and techniques necessary to stabilize airways, simple and complex, and provide shock treatment to include PASG trouser application and I.V. Therapy. Prerequisites: Certified as an EMT-Basic, EMSP 1501 and EMSP 1260; EMSP 1338, EMSP 1355, EMSP 1356 and Co-requisite: HPRS 2300.

    First responder course in emergency medical care. Emphasis on requirements of national and state accrediting agencies. Learning Outcomes: Demonstrate a working knowledge of clinical information and related topics relevant to the practice of pre-hospital emergency medical care at the emergency care attendant (ECA) level; the ability to competently perform all applicable skills; and exhibit attitudes and behavior consistent with the ethics and professionalism expected of the emergency care attendant.

    An exploration of the foundations necessary for mastery of the advanced topics of clinical practice out of the hospital. Learning Outcomes: At the completion of this module, the student will understand the roles and responsibilities of a paramedic within the EMS system; apply the basic concepts of development, pathophysiology and pharmacology to assessment and management of emergency patients; be able to properly administer medications; communicate effectively with patients; and understand the medical/legal and ethical issues relating to EMS practice as well as the issues impacting the well being of the paramedic. Prerequisites: NREMTB, EMSP 1501, EMSP 1260: Co-requisite: HPRS 2300, EMSP 1355, EMSP 1356.

    A detailed study of the knowledge and skills necessary to reach competence in the assessment and management of patients with traumatic injuries. Learning Outcomes: At the completion of this module, the student will be able to integrate the pathophysiological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression; and implement the treatment plan for the trauma patient. Prerequisites: EMSP 1501, EMSP 1260; Co-requisites: EMSP 1338, and EMSP 1356.

    A detailed study of the knowledge and skills required to reach competence in per- forming patient assessment and airway management. Learning Outcomes: At the completion of this module, the student will be able to take a proper history and perform a comprehensive physical exam on any patient; develop a patient care plan; communicate with others; and establish and/or maintain a patent airway, oxygenate, ventilate a patient. Prerequisites: EMSP 1501, EMSP 1260; Co-requisites: HPRS 2300, EMSP 1338, EMSP 1355.

    Topics address recently identified current events, skills, knowledges, and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to the technology or occupation and relevant to the professional development of the student. This course was designed to be repeated multiple times to improve student proficiency. Learning Outcomes: This course is designed to provide the EMS student with the opportunity to expand their knowledge of EMS. Students will review course material and enhance skills in EMS procedures. Students must demonstrate proficiency in didactic and EMS advanced skills. Prerequisites: EMS-B, EMS-I, EMSP 2544, 1163, 2338, 2330, 2434. Corequisites: EMSP 2460, EMSP 2243

    Introduction to the level of Emergency Medical Technician(EMT)-Basic. Includes all the skills necessary to provide emergency medical care at a basic life support level with an ambulance service or other specialized services. Learning Outcomes: The student will display a working knowledge of clinical information and related topics relevant to the practice of pre-hospital emergency medical care of the EMT-Basic level: demonstrate the ability to competently perform all applicable skills; and exhibit attitudes and behavior consistent with the ethics and professionalism expected of the EMT-Basic. Prerequisite: Acceptance into the EMS Program; Co-requisite: EMSP 1260, MDCA 1313 and MDCA 1409.
