Emphasis on developing interviewing and investigative skills to prepare the paralegal to communicate effectively while recognizing ethical problems. Prerequisite: LGLA 1307 taken concurrently or prior to this course.

The fundamental concepts of real property law with emphasis on the paralegal's role. Topics include the nature of real property, rights and duties of ownership, land use, voluntary and involuntary conveyances and the recording of and searching for real estate documents. Prerequisite: LGLA 1307 taken concurrently or prior to this course.

Procedures from arrest to final disposition, principles of federal and state law and the preparation of pleadings and motions as applied to paralegals. Prerequisite: LGLA 1307 taken concurrently or prior to this course.

A work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized theory, skills and concepts. A learning plan is developed by the college and the employer. Two mandatory on-campus class meetings will be held. Prerequisite: Successful completion of 50 semester hours towards Legal Assistant degree, including 18 hours of LGLA courses.

Preparation of legal documents by paralegals based on hypothetical situations drawn from various areas including real estate, family law, contracts, litigation and business organizations. Prerequisite: ENGL 1301, LGLA 1401, and successful completion of 18 semester hours of LGLA courses.
