Topics include emotional responses, coping mechanisms, and therapeutic communication skills.

Prerequisites: READ 0302 (R2); ENGL 0302 (W3); MATH 0303 (M2); and enrollment in the Vocational Nursing Program Corequisites: VNSG 1162, VNSG 2461, VNSG 1230, VNSG 1191 Continuation of Nursing in Health and Illness II. Further study of common medical-surgical health problems of the client including concepts of mental illness. Incorporates knowledge necessary to make the transition from student to graduate vocational nurse.

Corequisites: VNSG 1234, VNSG 1236, and VNSG 1161, VNSG 1409, VNSG 2361 Continuation of Applied Nursing Skills II. Application of nursing skills to meet complex client needs utilizing the nursing process and related scientific principles.

Corequisites: VNSG 1236, VNSG 1234, VNSG 1409, VNSG 2214, VNSG 1161 A health-related, work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional.
