Corequisite: NMTT 1303, RADR 1303, RADT 2317 Introduction to the field of radiation therapy with emphasis on the principles of terminology, and history, as well as an orientation to clinical practices and oncological practices.

Includes principles of equipment operation, concepts of quality assurance and instruction in medical imaging.

A study of malignant conditions, their etiology, and treatment of cancer. Identify diagnostic and staging procedures, various treatment modalities, and prognostic factors surrounding malignant diseases.

Prerequisite: READ 0302 (R2); ENGL 0302 (W3); MATH 0304 (M3); and enrollment in the Radiation Therapy Technology Program Corequisite: RADT 1191, RADT 2266, SPCH 1318 The principles, aims and techniques of applying ionizing radiation to the human body are presented in this course. Topics include discussions of applications of radiotherapy equipment with emphasis on treatment planning and dose calculations. The physical aspects and properties of ionizing radiation are discussed.
