    Fundamentals of Mathematics is designed to help students make the transition from arithmetic to algebra. This course includes operations with fractions, decimals and sign numbers; order of operations, prime factorization, greatest common factor, variable expressions, introduction to graphs and linear equations. Offered at C&I locations and Service Area Campuses that do not have a lab facility.

    This course is designed for the student who requires a flexible schedule and possesses the commitment and self-discipline to benefit from interactive on-line learning. Topics include adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions, decimals, and integers; order of operations; percentages; line, bar and pie graphs; pictographs; areas of plane figures; exponents; and an introduction to signed numbers and algebra. A computer, internet connection, and designated course software to facilitate interactive learning must be available.

    Designed for students who need a review of fundamental algebraic operations. Topics include operations involving real numbers, polynomials, linear equations and inequalities, factoring, graphing, and selected applications problems. Prerequisite: DSMA 0304 or appropriate test scores. Offered at C&I locations and Service Area Campuses that do not have a lab facility.

    Intermediate Algebra requires an understanding of the topics taught in DSMA 0306. This course teaches such topics as operations with rational expressions, exponential and logarithmic equations, systems of linear equations, radical expressions, complex numbers, quadratics and functions. Successful completion of this course fulfills the prerequisites for college-level mathematics courses. The prerequisite for this course is DSMA 0306 or an appropriate placement test score. Offered at C&I locations and Service Area Campuses that do not have a lab facility.

Topics include operations on real numbers, linear equations and inequalities, exponents and polynomials, systems of linear equations, factoring, rational expressions, graphing and an introduction to functions. A computer, internet connection, and designated course software to facilitate interactive learning must be available. Prerequisite: A course comparable to DSMA 0305 or appropriate test scores.

    This course is designed for the student who requires a flexible schedule and possesses the commitment and self-discipline to benefit from interactive on-line learning. Topics include a continuation of rational expressions, radicals, rational exponents, quadratic equations and functions, exponential and logarithmic functions and complex numbers. A computer, internet connection, and designated course software to facilitate interactive learning must be available. Prerequisite: A course comparable to DSMA 0309 or appropriate test scores. DSRE 0302 Fundamentals of Reading I 3-0-3 Fundamentals of Reading I (DSRE 0302) is a fundamental reading course designed to aid students in acquiring and improving the basic skills needed for reading college-level materials. This course was developed specifically for those who scored below 35 percent on the reading section of the Asset test. Emphasis will be on word attach skills, vocabulary development, comprehension, fluency, and study and test-taking skills. Offered at C&I locations and Service Area Campuses that do not have a lab facility.

    Fundamentals of Reading II (DSRE 0303) is designed to aid students in developing and reinforcing the skills needed for reading college-level materials; specifically those who scored between 35-40 percent on the reading section of the Asset test or passed DSRE 0302. Emphasis will be on vocabulary development, literal and critical comprehension skills, and fluency. Successful completion of DSRE 0303 should provide a student with an adequate background to successfully pass the reading section of the THEA as well as any college course that requires extensive reading. Offered at C&I and Service Area Campuses that do not have a lab facility.

    Developmental Reading II is designed for the student who requires a flexible schedule and possesses the commitment and self discipline to benefit from interactive on-line learning. This course's purpose is to aid students in developing and reinforcing the skills needed for reading college-level materials; specifically those who scored between 50-69 percent on the college placement reading section or passed DSRE 0300. This course emphasizes vocabulary development, literal comprehension skills, critical reading and thinking skills, and fluency. A computer, internet connection, and designated course software to facilitate interactive learning must be available. Prerequisite: A course comparable to DSRE 0300 or appropriate test scores. Offered on Central Campus.

    Fundamentals of Writing I is a course in basic writing skills at the sentence and paragraph levels. This course includes instruction in basic grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, and other necessary skills leading to the proper construction of a paragraph. This is a required course for students who have scored below 200 on the writing section of the THEA or below 35 on the ASSET and a 2 or 3 on the writing section. Offered at C&I locations and Service Area Campuses that do not have a lab facility.
