Principal artist include: Pieter and Jan Brueghel, Rubens, Van Dyck, Goltzuis, Hals, Rembrandt, Ruisdael, Vermeer, and Steen. Attention to the rise of pictoral genres: landscape, still life, tavern scenes, portraiture, well as relationship of art to the rise of Absolutist rulers, religious conflicts, and the Thirty Years War.
