    EAM 860 Clinical Seminar: Internship: 3 (3,0). This course provides both breadth and focus with the relation to career plans. The student is expected to demostrate a high-level ability to coordinate intelluctual and performance skills. This ability will be reflected in conceptually based methodology for understanding and acting upon administrative experience of the student. A written report and an evaluation of the internship are required at the end of the field experience. A written agreement or "learning contract" approved by the student, field mentor, and faculty member is required. This course is required for all Ed.D. students. Required for Certification at the Superintendent Level.

    EAR 599. Effective School Research, Measurement, Evaluation, and Assessment. 3(3,0). This course is designed to acquaint MAT students with the methods and techniques of research, measurement, evaluation and assessment used in education. Emphasis will be given to designing ehtnographic studies with training and observation of student and teacher behavior in the classroom. Statistical techniques and therotical concepts in educational and psychological test, measurement and assessment will also be addresses. An ethnographic study is required product.

    EAR 803. Data Analysis for Experimental Studies in Education. 3(3,0). Data analysis techniques most widely used in educational experiments where quantitative measures have been made are examined. Parametric procedures are presented such as t-test, analysis of variance: One, two and three factors, post hoe procedures: Scheffe, Dum, Turkey, etc. Also, multiple resgresson analysis and discrimination function procedures. Prerequisite: EAR 701 or equivalent.(F,S)

    EAR 804. Survey Research. 3(3,0). The data analysis techniques mot widely used in non-experimental educational research are examined with emphasis on data where multiple measurements are made on individual such as multivariate procedures. Prerequisite: EAR 701. (F,S)

    EAR 861. Dissertation Seminar. 3(0). This course is designed to support beginning doctoral dissertation candidates by offering them preliminary guidance and assistance as they begin to pre-plan for writign the dissertation research study. The disseration seminar will be devoted to the pre-work that precedes a dissertation proposal. It will be devoted to the "mechanics" that come into pre-planning endeavors. EAR 899 Dissertation candidates will learn the mechanical and statistical tools presented in separate delivered by various department faculty members. (Chapters I, II, III, consultation with committee chair, mock proposal defense, Chapter IV, V and assignment of "working draft" of proposal). (F,S)

    EAR 899. Dissertation Seminar. 9-15 (3--6-0). This course is required for doctoral students preparing dissertation proposals. Unit credit is awarded according to work accomplished. This coure must be taken on a Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory basis. Prerequisite: Advancement to candidacy and consent of instructor.(F,S)

    ECE. 200. Semincar in Early Childhood. 1(1,1). This seminar will introduce the students to the discipline of early childhood education. Through a variety of activities planned in the laboratory schools and in community settings, students will acquire an understanding of the profession. Emphasis will be placed on career opportunities and involvment in professional organizations. Ten hours of pre-clinical experiences are required in an appropriate school and/or agency setting. (F,S)

    ECE 310. Assessing and Interpreting Child Behavior. 3(3,0). This course focuses upon basic presentation of skills; techniques and materials will be explored as means to assess the needs, motivations and capacities of children. Emphasis is placed on methods for recording and documenting the behavior of individual and group behavior in a variety of settings. Laboratory experiences will be included to enable the students to make practical use of the theories discussed. Prerequisities: ECE 200; CD 200 and/or PSY 204. (S)

    The Child and the Curriculum. 3(3,0). This course introduces the fundamental concepts of child development as it relates to the basic theories and principles underlying early childhood curriculum planning and teaching. A primary objective of this course is to explore a variety of curriculum alternatives appropriate for this level, which will meet the needs of children from diverse backgrounds.

    This course considers the role of language in the young child's life (infancy to nine years). A thorough study is made of the major areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing of children. Developmental theory for the Language Arts and the ways in which various approaches may affect the child's mastery are studied. Current research, educational practices and materials are explored.
